Alex started his journey in this industry at the young age of 20 in Mexico. His first job working with leather was at a small warehouse down the block from his home. He started with the basics like cutting threads, cleaning finished production to ensure quality and inventory.  As time passed he developed a skill and great eye for the craft. 

       In 1999 he decided to make his way up north to Los Angeles in hopes to use his expertise for Hollywood designers. When he arrived he landed a job in downtown LA for a local shop, over time he escalated in jobs from a line worker, to pattern making and samples to being in charge of designs and quality control.

      As time passed and with more built confidence in  2010 he came to a realization that working for someone had him feeling stuck in a bubble and from years of experience and connections he established he decided to finally pursue his dream and began working on his vision for what he loves to do. 

      In 2011, Alex Leather Design was started with only 1 sewing machine  , a small cutting table, essential tools and passion. All in a small studio somewhere near West Lake/Pico Union. As time passed what started as simple small projects and repairs turned into expanding to a warehouse in the heart of downtown LA and building great relationships with entrepreneurs like himself, distributers, clients from all over the US, Europe and even celebrities.   

      It's now 2025 and we are still running strong with the same values and principles that Alex brought to this establishment. We stand on being the best handcrafters in L.A. and our work shall continue back that statement up.
